Alzheimer disease: Loss of orientation in space, time and person

Alzheimer disease ultimately leads to dementia. Dementia is defined by cognitive impairment on a variety of cognitive functions. One of the symptoms of Alzheimer dementia is loos in orientation. This is described in 3 domains. The first domain of oreintation that is often impaired with dementia is orientation in time. The person has trouble knowing what time it is or what day. He could also have troubels knowing what year or month it is, is it summer?Day?Night? The second domain that becomes impaired is the orientation in space. The person with dementia will get lost in former well known places. He can not find the supermarket in the village or the bus stop next to home. Eventually he will get lost in his own home, having troubles finding the bathroom. The thirs one is orientation in person. Here it is where they forget who their loved ones are and eventually who they were themselves.
