Electronic Key Cabinet Advantages
When it comes to key cabinets, there are two main types. There are locking key cabinets and electronic key cabinets. A locking key cabinet uses a key to open and lock the cabinet. An electronic key cabinet is a keyless system. There is a keypad, very similar to the ones you see on alarm system, where you type in the passcode to gain access. This means you don’t need to have a key to gain access. This makes it easier to provide people with access. With a locking key cabinet you usually need someone to oversee the cabinet itself and keep track of the key.
Electronic key cabinets also offer more advanced security features. Some come with an alarm that goes off if a wrong security code is entered. This type of key cabinet also comes with the ability to program and re-program thousands of passcode combinations which makes if very hard to gain access without the proper authority. An electronic key cabinet can also come with a tracking mechanism which is another important advantage.
