Installing Laptop Memory
If you’ve decided to upgrade your laptop with new memory, you’ve probably debated on whether or not to have it installed professionally or do it yourself. Installing laptop memory yourself is not as hard as it seems, and you can save yourself some money. Typical installation involves removing the battery, and unscrewing the door that allows you access to the memory slot. Sometimes the memory is hidden behind the battery as in the case of some Macintosh laptops. Before you remove the you should touch something metal to discharge any static electricity. It can be anything like a metal table leg or doorknob. Once you’ve done that flip back the clip that holds the memory down, then pull the old chip straight out. Installing the new laptop memory is as simple as fitting it into the slot and pressing it firmly in until the clip snaps over it. Replace the cover and screws and you’re done.
