Security Camera Housing | Transparent Covering Could Affect Image Quality

The transparent part of security camera housing is typically made of glass or polycarbonate plastic. It must be of high-quality to ensure minimal interference with the clarity of the image captured by the security camera inside. The smallest imperfection in the window can compromise the image quality. Small specks of dust in or on the glass can be magnified with cameras that have high zoom capabilities. And even cameras without zoom can still pick up imperfections since the security cameras lens are pressed up to the glass.

Thicker windows can endure tougher conditions and take a beating but that also increases the chance of imperfections in the covering. Thicker windows tend to be a detriment to the image quality because it increases undesired reflections of light. There are tougher quality standards to be met with thicker housing coverings to ensure there is minimal disruption of the security camera’s surveillance.
