Sippy cups can be utilized at age one as well; this is another crucial stage of developing manual dexterity and gross motor skills. It is a good idea to have many varieties and brands of sippy cups on hand, as you will soon find that baby may go through a few before finding his favorite. Finger feeding is a fun and messy part of eating solid foods. Baby will be so amazed and pleased at placing food in his own mouth! Utensils will be implemented after finger foods are mastered. Sippy cups are really an important part of the whole baby feeding process. Our children used them for at least a year after starting them around ago one, and they’re a great way to bridge the gap from bottle to cup.

Infant colic, or baby colic, is a condition where a seemingly healthy baby cries vigorously for long periods for no apparent reason. It would not be unusual for babies to cry or become upset at these early ages of life. Colic can be suspected, however, when a baby cries consistently for long periods of time, despite all comforting or if it happens at the same time each day or after feeding. Another sign of colic is that after crying vigorously, the baby will stop very suddenly and seem fine.
Medical professionals often us “the rule of three” to diagnose colic, this is where a baby would cry for more than three hours a day, more than three days a week, for a three month period or over. Colic usually appears in the first few weeks of babies life and can last up until four months old.
Colic is thought to be caused from swallowed wind when feeding baby . It occurs mainly in bottle fed babies but can also be found in breast fed babies.
