Beyond Know How

As is the case with many kinds of products, some people have different meanings when they use the term storage bed.  At the most basic root, a storage bed is simply any kind of bed, which happens to have excess storage in drawers, cupboards or even underneath the mattress.  In fact, in Japan and Europe there are storage beds that have hinges that allow the entire mattress to lift up ninety-degrees.  Under the mattress is a large storage space that is about the size of a standard box spring.  No matter what kind of home décor you have, or what kind of bed you are looking for, there is certainly one with ample storage options that will help you keep your home just a bit more organized.

I have to admit, I never grew up with a sleeper sofa in our house.  We had some chairs and traditional couches in our living room, but no magical couch that could easily become a bed with a few clicks on one’s wrist.  Now maybe because I wasn’t exposed to these technological miracle furniture pieces, I always grew up thinking they were the coolest thing since Rick Astley.  But in talking with a friend recently he shared how he always thought a sleeper sofa was a sign of a family that couldn’t afford an extra bed.  Since then this potential paradigm shift has troubled me; was I wrong all these years?  Are sleeper sofas not cool?  If so, how could I make such a misjudgment?  The answer, as always, generally lays somewhere in the middle; to me sleeper sofas or any other converting type of furniture, are cool.  For others, not so much.  But it doesn’t matter to might right now since I’m the proud owner of a sleeper sofa.  Also, I can’t afford an actual guest bedroom right now.
