There are a number of things that cause acne. Two of the most common causes are hormones and food allergies. Knowing the causes can help you be acne free.

Hormonal changes are the number one cause for acne. A fluctuation of hormones can sometimes cause your body to make an extra amount of oil. This oil is pushed through your pores making them clog, thus leading to acne. Regulating your hormones with oral medication or contraceptives can help keep your acne flare ups to a minimum.

Another common cause of acne is being allergic to the food you eat. If you notice a sudden break out after eating, chances are you are allergic to something and it’s bringing on the acne. If you can narrow down what is causing the break out, you will have a better chance at controlling your blemishes.
