Tea and the Immune System

Tea has been used for thousands of years for a variety of medical purposes, even long before it became a popular supplement in the pharmacy or health food shop.  It has been long considered a powerful way of boosting the body’s immune system.  Why exactly is this so?

It turns out that tea, particularly green tea, contains very high levels of antioxidants, which are very beneficial in the battle against free radicals.  A large percentage of green tea is made up of three particularly powerful antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids, and vitamin C.

Many of the health benefits attributed to green tea, particularly its ability to boost the immune system, are due to the very high amount of antioxidants.  Drinking three to five cups of green tea per day should be enough to make the most of those health benefits.

Why is Green Tea in Weight Loss Pills?

Green tea can help you lose weight.   It won’t be the drastic  “20 lbs in a week” or other outlandish claim that companies like to make, but green tea has been proven scientifically to help speed up the metabolism and block the absorption of fat.
