To avoid the scams, there are two things to consider. The first is whether they are teaching you a useful skill to in business for yourself, or whether they are asking you to do mind numbing manual labor. Working from home doing manual labor is 99% of the time a scam. Such jobs would include envelope stuffing, assembly kits, posting ads for someone, etc.

The second topic to consider is how they are saying you would make the money. Do they say how, or are they vague? Is it a pyramid scheme where you must sell a non-existant product to another person and get them to sell it to people under them, and so on and so on? An establishment that is legit will teach you “to fish for yourself”, and point out how you will make money, WHAT you need to do (you can’t do nothing!), and offer you some kind of assistance if you are going to pay anything.
