Men’s Fragrances – Things to Know
When describing men’s fragrances the correct term to use would be mens perfume but this does not sit well within the realms of male society, hence the other names that are much more commonly bandied about such as cologne, aftershave and of course fragrance in general.
Back then, regular bathing was far from the norm so “bathing” in fragrance to cover up the natural body odor was a very regular practice carried out by those wealthy enough to be able to afford it.
Cologne however is not nearly as strong as is a real men’s perfume. Perfume tends to be around 15% concentrate while cologne may only be around 5% or so. Hence cologne does not last nearly as long as does a good perfume – perfume has more layers.
