Vintage Oil Cans
Have you ever seen a vintage oil can? The earliest oil cans actually date as far as the 1880’s. But because the majority of oil cans were simply tossed out into the trash once they were empty of oil, locating oil cans that are from as late as the 1900’s that are in pretty good condition is really not that easy. For the most part, oil can collectors will place the highest value on a vintage oil can that features bright and vivid colors, those that feature oil company mascots, those that were produced by the smaller oil companies vs the big oil giants, and obviously, oil cans that are still full of oil, i.e. never used. Vintage oil cans with bright colors and company logos can also be valuable.
