While deciding to renovate my bathroom seemed like a really bright idea that would up the value of my home, doing it myself entirely probably wasn’t! One of the area’s i had the biggest problem with was connecting my new bath and shower faucets up where the old ones where. Since installing a new shower and tub basin everything needed to be re-fit and customized to make it work. While searching for tips and lessons on how to repair leaky and faulty shower faucets, I began to learn more and more about how to deal with the problems I was having with my own installation. Luckily I made it through the process and the end result looks pretty good! I had to call in a plumber to get the details worked out properly on one particular issue, but it was well worth it! Without a doubt, I’m proud of my new bath and shower fixtures and I know they’re helping to increase the value of my new home!

It was a tough choice to choose between which styles and finishes I wanted.  Some of the contemporary designes looked fantastic and really complimented the decor of my bathroom… however, they look like they would be difficult to keep clean and even harder to repair if the cartridge inside ever decided to start leaking. I chose to go with a more basic modern style with a brushed metal finish. It should be easy to keep clean, resist corrosion from my hard water, and best of all, it looks very good in my shower.

Sometimes the best things are the things you do yourself, just don’t be afraid to ask for help! It sure saved my butt and possible a lot of my money as well! Without proper knowledge of how to install showers and shower faucets you can inadvertently create a slow, yet serious leak, that will rott the inner walls of your home! Be thorough, carefull, and make sure you do the job right!

What is With Walk In Shower Enclosures?

I’ve been reading some of the new articles at various directories, and would appear that there is a fascination with walk in shower enclosures. I mean, I can understand why people like them, considering the style they can bring to a room typically used for cleaning dirt from our bodies and the “rarely talked about in public” personal hygiene. However, do they really deserve as much love as they seem to be getting these days? Yeah, I know, they can save almost half of the cost over traditional shower or bath units, but cost isn’t everything. Of course, when you factor in style, cost, and convenience they may well be worth a good long look, especially because of the flexibility in design. OK, I may not be sold on the need for so many net articles on the subject, but I could very possibly be sold on having one in my home.
