The Best Way to Store Ground Coffee

Although I believe the best way to a great cup of coffee starts with grinding whole beans using your own grinder, I understand that many people buy coffee grounds for convenience. After all, most people are interested in reducing the amount of steps required to make a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. So, what is the best method for storing ground coffee without further reducing the delicate flavors stored with the grounds themselves? The answer is not placing the unused grounds in the freezer or refrigerator compartment. Rather, the best option is to store the fresh ground coffee in a dark, airtight container. The container should be stored in a cool location, but outside of the refrigerator. Although ground coffee can be stored for a few days, it is recommended to use the coffee within a few days; otherwise, the resulting cup will be bland and flavorless.
