What is a Fetal Doppler?

A fetal Doppler is a monitoring device that gives you the ability to check your baby’s heart rate during the critical stages of pregnancy. It is also known as a baby heartbeat monitor. Many parents are worried about the health of their unborn child, and this can create stress. Stress can have adverse effects on your child, such as increasing the risk of miscarriage, increasing the risk of premature birth, and increasing the risk of low birth weight and using a fetal Doppler can help ease the stress on the mother.

It works like an ultrasound, and is very easy to use. It is based on the Doppler effect, where it gets its name from. A baby heartbeat monitor listens to the variation in the sound pitch, and translates the signals into a sound that you can hear or read on the monitor as your babies heart beat.
